Amen Tom!

I find that I need more love and compassion for the "Ninevites" around us. Along with fleeing God's call in one way or another, the spiritual disinterest and opposition to Jesus and the gospel on the part of our "Nineveh" makes it very easy for me to view these "Ninevites" with little difference than Jonah did the Ninevites of his day.

O Sovereign Lord grip me by Your great compassion and pity! You who pitied Nineveh of old, a merciful and compassionate God, slow to get angry (and O how I thank You for that!) and filled with unfailing love, eager to turn back from destroying sinful people who deserve only Your punishment ---------- make me like You.

Amen brother.
You're right that like Jonah we can jump a ship and run from God's call in different ways. We may hop onto a busyness ship or a fun ship or a summer fun ship or a family focus ship or a career ship or a money making ship or a pleasure ship or the American dream ship or an "I don't want to offend anyone and risk anyone's wrath" ship.

Whatever the ship, we are outside the will of God if we are not waking up in the morning thinking: "How can I find a Ninevite--in my home or neighborhood or store or place of work--to call to repentance from sin and faith in Christ."

Thank you Tim, and the whole pastoral team, for serving us. May the Lord continue to give you divine strength to minister to His people, and to demolish strongholds!
Concerning Ninevah...we do not like to be called a "Jonah", one who runs from the call of God to proclaim the gospel. We have not looked for a ship heading out to sea far from God's intended purpose. But perhaps the ship may look more like a beach, or a book, or work, or entertainment, or tv, anything that's pleasant. and distracting! Busyness, personal problems and struggles always present, while Ninevah perishes around us. Brothers and sisters, let us pray. I need more courage, more interest in Ninevah, more love for people, more vision for an outpouring of a "'demonstration of God's power". What joy awaits us as we shall feast with many thousands of "Ninevites" redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, in Toms River. However, they must first hear the gospel! Oh, let us pray!

While salvation stories are my favorite stories, how God brought people together to share a life of love together comes in second. Thanks for the story and the continued example of romance! What a romantic you are to want the very bench on which you sat when you first spoke to Gayline - SO YOU CAN HAVE A VISIBLE REMINDER OF YOUR LOVE STORY! WOW!!

While reading this, I was reminded of what Paul said to the Corinthians,

"What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up."
